Export exactly the products you filtered

The export runs against your current view. Narrow the grid first and the CSV follows:

Export Shopify products with a given tag - filter by tag (or several), then export only those rows, tags column included.
Export only visible products - filter to Active and leave drafts and archived products out of the file entirely.
By vendor, price range, or inventory level - one supplier, everything under $20, everything out of stock.
By saved segment - the segments you already use for bulk editing export as-is, so the same definition drives both.

What lands in the CSV

The columns the grid shows, in the order you arranged them: title, status, price, compare-at price, SKU, inventory, tags, vendor, and description. Hide a column and it drops out of the file.

One row per product. The file follows the grid's product rows, so a product with three variants exports as a single row carrying its default variant's price, compare-at price, SKU, and inventory - the other two are not in the file. If you need a row per variant, Shopify's native export is the one to use.

What else is not in it: metafields, image URLs, collections, and product IDs are not part of the export today, and the description column contains raw HTML rather than plain text. If you need any of those, Shopify's native product export covers them and is free on every plan.

Large catalogs export in the background

Big exports run as a Shopify bulk operation rather than blocking the browser: start it, keep editing, and collect the file when it is done. Jobs can be cancelled or retried from the exports list, and finished files stay downloadable for 7 days.

Exporting is not editing

Worth saying plainly, because the CSV round-trip is where most catalog accidents start: a re-import writes your whole file back to Shopify, formatting problems and all, with no preview of what is about to change. Editing inline and exporting afterwards for your own records is the safer order of operations - nothing reaches Shopify until you press Save, and you can undo it after.
